Gaithersburg Library

Located in Montgomery County, the library is undergoing an extensive renovation and expansion. The facility is currently the busiest in the Regional Library system and services 700,000 visits per year.

The Hippodrome Theater

The France-Merrick Performing Arts Center at the Hippodrome involved the architectural connection of three historic landmark buildings - the Western National Bank, the Eutaw Savings Bank, and the original Hippodrome Theatre. The original Hippodrome Theater was designed by noted theater architect, Thomas Lamb, and opened in 1914 as a Theater Palace.

Maryland Museum of African American History and Culture

The five-story museum houses 12,000 SF of dedicated permanent exhibition space and 3,500 SF for special temporary exhibits. It features an interactive learning environment, auditorium, resource center, oral history recording studio, museum shop, café/eatery, outside terrace and reception area.

Waverly Main Street Master Plan

Mahan Rykiel led a master planning effort for Waverly, one of Baltimore’s “Main Street” communities. The process was anchored by an intensive three-day charrette with the purpose of developing a framework to guide continued revitalization of the Waverly commercial district.

Baltimore Downtown Open Space Master Plan

The Downtown Partnership of Baltimore (DPOB) and the City of Baltimore prepared a Downtown Strategic Plan to guide continued revitalization of Baltimore’s central business district. A critical focus of this plan was to identify a strategic approach to improving the public realm to help attract and retain employers, residents and visitors.

UMBC Event Center and Arena

Consistent with UMBC’s Master Plan, this project expands the Athletic Precinct of the campus with the design of this 5,000-seat multipurpose facility. Designed to accommodate NCAA D1 athletics, the facility will specifically house the basketball and volleyball programs, but will also be an important new venue for commencements, concerts, and other community and campus events.

Druid Hill Park Lake

Druid Hill Park is Baltimore’s first large municipal park—comprising 745 acres of lawns, rolling hills, and forest—and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. From its inception, the park’s beautiful water features also functioned as sources of drinking water for the citizens of Baltimore.

The design of White Flint is guided by an interpretation and expression of the region’s ecological and cultural character. The central courtyard, nestled within the architecture, echoes the lines and forms of riparian corridors. Banner Hill

Anthem House is a mixed-use community that brings 287 upscale apartment homes, with retail and structured parking, to Baltimore’s Locust Point neighborhood. The landscape design for the development incorporates reclaimed materials and a native plant palette to reflect the site’s ecological and industrial heritage.
