Harbor’s Edge is a Continuing Care Retirement Community, located on a 3 ½ acre site in the Atlantic City district of Fort Norfolk, named by USA Today as one of the “Top Ten booming downtowns”. Formerly an industrial site, this location on the James River was targeted by the City as an important area for new development.
Mahan Rykiel Associates created a series of outdoor spaces for this project including streetscape plans for the perimeter and two courtyards. One courtyard features a serene viewing garden. The rooftop garden features a trellised area, tables and chairs for outdoor dining, and large open lawn for croquet, family gatherings or other outdoor events.
