Mahan Rykiel Associates has been collaboratively working with the project Master Plan Architect on developing and designing the streetscape and open space for a new high density mixed use urban neighborhood within the Merriweather-Symphony Woods Neighborhood in Downtown Columbia.
The streetscape design, which includes low impact design features to capture and treat storm water management, will unify the neighborhood and knit together a centrally located park with three additional public spaces: a commons, promenade and mews. The central park will be developed with a curbless section at adjacent streets to allow for street closures and expanded area for events and festivals.
As a multi phased development with six definable development blocks, the full build out will bring two residential buildings; two office towers, two public garages; a hotel; and several free standing retail buildings.
This project knits seamlessly into Symphony Woods, a regional destination park designed by Mahan Rykiel focused on arts, culture and ecology.
