Alice Sturm joined Mahan Rykiel Associates in the summer of 2017 after graduating from Cornell University with a Master of Landscape Architecture, where she won the Upstate NY ASLA Chapter’s 2016 Distinguished Student Award, and was the recipient of the ASLA University Honor Award in Education. While pursuing her Master’s degree, Alice was a graduate teaching assistant for both design studios and Site Engineering, as well as a research assistant studying climate resilience and coastal design. Her most recent research includes the history and fragility of coastal leisure in Barcelona and on the Jersey Shore. Before entering the field, Alice earned her B.A. in Religion from Columbia University and worked in the food industry as a cook in public school cafeterias and as a vegetable farmer.
