Amina Mohamed joined Mahan Rykiel Associates in the summer of 2016 after graduating from the University of Maryland’s Dual Master’s Program of Landscape Architecture and Community Planning. She was the recipient of the University of Maryland’s Landscape Architecture Award of Excellence and a 2016 University Olmsted Scholar. While pursuing her Master’s, Amina was a graduate teaching assistant as well as research assistant studying youth perceptions of stormwater. Her most recent research includes spatial analyses of urban vacancy in post-industrial cities.
Amina has a passion for research, social and environmental justice, and community engagement. Her interests center on the integration of research and design as a process to inform the equality of health and wellness for people and the environment. Amina’s work includes community design, educational and healthcare campuses and landscapes.
