Lois Nguyen joined Mahan Rykiel Associates in the summer of 2019 after graduating from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture. While at Cornell, she received the Upstate NY ASLA Chapter’s Distinguished Student of the Year Award and was a 2019 LAF Olmsted Scholar. She conducted her undergraduate thesis research, “Disability as Design: A Cultural Model Approach to Valuing Disability in Landscape Architecture,” on the application of disability theory and non-normative thinking to the design process. Part of this research will be published in Kerb Journal in the fall of 2019. Her other interests span horticulture, community engagement, and social resiliency concepts. She looks forward to applying this thinking to her work as part of the mixed-use team at MRA.
